From: Jones Newsgroups: bellsouth.net.support.adsl Subject: Some STH Exploration Reveals Hidden Command... Date: Wed, 26 Dec 2001 14:56:24 -0500 Well, after a lot of playing around in the EXPERT CLI mode of the STH or STP, I have figured out how to get the modem to display the upstream sync statistics. At present (and by default), the modem will only display the downstream stats when the command 'golden operational_data' is executed via the EXPERT CLI. The results look like this: Operational data report : near end (Downstream) ----------------------------------------------- Attainable line rate : 4140 kbit/sec Attainable Atm rate : 3648 kbit/sec Used line rate : 1876 kbit/sec Fast used Atm rate : 1472 kbit/sec Interleaved used Atm rate : 0 kbits/sec Rel. capacity occupation : 45 Noise Margin : 12 dB Line attenuation : 19 dB Output Power : 17 dBm Operational data report : far end (Upstream) -------------------------------------------- No data available. Type 'help golden' for more information. Now, to enable the displaying of the upstream statistics, execute 'tdsl golden on'. After waiting a few seconds (the modem will re-sync and store the upstream data), type 'golden operational_data'. Your results should now show the upstream data: Operational data report : near end (Downstream) ----------------------------------------------- Attainable line rate : 4052 kbit/sec Attainable Atm rate : 3552 kbit/sec Used line rate : 1888 kbit/sec Fast used Atm rate : 1472 kbit/sec Interleaved used Atm rate : 0 kbits/sec Rel. capacity occupation : 47 Noise Margin : 14 dB Line attenuation : 19 dB Output Power : 17 dBm Operational data report : far end (Upstream) -------------------------------------------- Attainable line rate : 596 kbit/sec Attainable Atm rate : 480 kbit/sec Used line rate : 352 kbit/sec Fast used Atm rate : 256 kbit/sec Interleaved used Atm rate : 0 kbits/sec Rel. capacity occupation : 59 Noise Margin : 13 dB Line attenuation : 12 dB Output Power : 10 dBm The information above I feel is unique and I did not find it anywhere on the Internet, so have at it; just a little poking around with the CLI ! Also, after enabling of the upstream golden option, the other golden commands will display upstream data as well. The 'tdsl golden on' command seems to enable the option until the modem is power-cycled or reset. If you have no idea what CLI, expert mode or anything else mentioned above is, I would advise leaving your modem alone! This is just an interesting tidbit that I think some people in the forum might enjoy! ------ I originally posted this over at the DSLR Forum, at this thread: . Just putting it up here so you guys that don't follow the BSFA Forum on DSLR see it! I think this information is helpful for anybody with a STH and is trying to track down line issues! ---------- BJ
